Former Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil has insisted that Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema deserved the 2022 Ballon d’Or so much.
Ozil, a former teammate with Benzema at Real Madrid, said he was proud of the France international, who he described as his brother.
Track News reports that Benzema, on Monday night in Paris, won the 2022 Ballon d’Or ahead of Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane and Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne.
Reacting, Ozil, in a tweet via his Twitter handle, said Benzema is the best player in the world.
The former Germany international also said that he always knew Benzema would win the Ballon d’Or in his glittering career.
Ozil posted a picture of himself and Benzema wearing Real Madrid’s jersey with the caption: “My boy Benzi – the best player in the world. I’ve always said you will win this trophy and you deserve it so much. Proud of you my brother #BallonDOr
