Bayelsa born lecturer wins international championship on chemical sciences
… recieves commendation from state government
The Bayelsa State Government has congratulated a university don, Dr. Kaywood Leizou for winning the 2018 World Chemical Sciences (Metal Speciation in Sediment) Championship.
Dr. Leizou emerged winner of the championship after defeating 5,845 other nominations from 89 other Countries screened for the 2018 world championship.
The International Agency for Standards and Ratings (IASR) recognizes Dr. Leizou as the new world champion and among the worlds 500 most influential experts on earth in chemical sciences for the year 2018.
Reacting to the development, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson described the feat as a good news to the state, the Niger Delta University, Nigeria and Africa.
In a statement on Thursday, Iworiso-Markson who said the new world champion has made Bayelsa proud challenged other lecturers in the state to go for similar laurels.
According to him, the NDU lecturer deserves all the accolades and commended him for the acasemic exploits which has put the state on the spotlight again.
Iworiso-Markson equally congratulated Governor Seriake Dickson, saying the achievement of Dr. Leizou is coming at a time the governor is investing massively in science education and stressed that the current crop of students in the model schools across the state will in the near future also make the state proud.
The Inforrmation Commissioner also congratulated Gov. Dickson for his nomination by The Sun Newspaper for the award as the Outstanding Politician of the Year and The New Telegragh Newspaper as the Governor of The Year on Good Governance.
On the recent Supreme Court victory against multinational oil firms operating in the country, the Spokesman of the Bayelsa State Government noted that it was the dogged effort of Dickson to correct the anomaly of crude oil earnings by oil producing states and equally lauded him for that.
He stated that the verdict is a victory for the littoral states and indeed the Nigerian Federation and used the opportunity to again call on Bayelsans to support the governor in his agitation for a better Bayelsa and Ijaw Nation.
While appreciating the different media organizations for nominating Gov. Dickson for prestigious awards, he said the awards are recognition of the New Bayelsa that the Restoration Government has delivered which is a product of years of hardwork, dedication, commitment and a resilient spirit particularly on the part of the governor.
