… as Wife of Governor says skills acquisition programmes produce new entrepreneurs
The wife of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. (Mrs) Gloria Diri today attended the World Entrepreneurship Day celebrations held at Late Chief DSP Memorial Banquet Hall, Government House, Yenagoa.
The event, brought together beneficiaries of Governor Douye Diri Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and stakeholders in the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Gloria Diri, expressed gratitude to God for Bayelsa’s inclusion among committee of states celebrating World Entrepreneurship Day this year.
She acknowledged the pivotal role of the Diri Skills Acquisition Program in creating the platform for this celebration, noting that without it, such an occasion would not have been possible in the state.
Highlighting the transformative impact of entrepreneurship, the Mrs. Diri, remarked that the presence of a significant number of entrepreneurs in the hall was a testament to the shift in Bayelsa’s economic narrative.
She commended the passion and dedication exhibited by the solar installation trainees, painters and other skill beneficiaries, whose testimonies stood as evidence of positive change.
The governor’s wife encouraged participants to remain committed to their craft and to strive for excellence.
She maintained that entrepreneurship is not a destination but a continuous journey, one that demands innovation, resilience, and the willingness to expand beyond initial skills acquired.
Mrs. Diri commended the effort of Mrs. Charity Kens Godwin, Technical Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa State on Entrepreneurship for organizing the event and fostering an environment that nurtures enterprise and self-reliance in Bayelsa.
Mrs. Kens Godwin on the occasion equally recognised some deserving entrepreneurs who have over the years contributed to the economic growth of the State.
