Bayelsa Councillor Takes Stand Against Truancy and Lateness in community School

In a bid to ensure educational standards are maintained, Hon. Cocodia Richard, the councillor representing Sagbama Ward 9, made an unscheduled visit to Community Primary School 1 in Trofani town. The purpose of the visit was to assess the punctuality and activities of both teachers and pupils.
During his visit, Hon. Cocodia uncovered significant issues at the school, including widespread truancy, lateness, and impersonation among both teachers and students. These problems, he noted, are detrimental to the educational development of the pupils and the overall performance of the school.
In addition to his inspection, Hon. Cocodia engaged with National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members during their Community Development Service (CDS) activities. He took the opportunity to encourage them to take their national service seriously and to contribute positively to the local community.
Expressing his concerns about the state of the school, Hon. Cocodia called on the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) to take immediate action to address these issues and ensure the school operates effectively.
“I urge the PTA of Community Primary School 1 Trofani to sit up and ensure that the right measures are put in place to improve the school’s environment and educational standards,” Hon. Cocodia stated.
His visit highlights the need for increased oversight and commitment to education within the Sagbama community. Hon. Cocodia emphasized the critical role that parents, teachers, and community leaders must play in fostering a conducive learning environment for the children.
This proactive step by Hon. Cocodia aims to initiate positive changes and ensure that the students of Community Primary School 1 Trofani receive the quality education they deserve.
