PRESS RELEASE…..

The attention of the Director General Ward-2-Ward Campaign Organisation for Sen. Douye Diri Hon. Ogidi Ben Bara as well as other well-meaning Bayelsans have been drawn to the recent careless, insensitive and sentimental statement of the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya U. Farouq on the intensity of the 2022 flooding in Bayelsa State.

It’s quite provocative, insensitive, parochial and bias for the Minister to have made such a reckless statement to the press with her justification coiled from the number of displaced persons per state, without actually gathering enough facts to support her claims…

While Bayelsans are still lamenting the lack of Federal Government’s presence in the state in times like this, the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya U. Farouq could only add more salt to the injury with her rather baseless and unverifiable statement of the impact of the 2022 flooding in Bayelsa State.

Nine out of every ten Bayelsans is an IDP, including the Former President His Excellency Goodluck Ebele Jonathan , the Current Governor Sen. Douye Diri as well as other notable Bayelsans.

It’s evident and very clear with her current statement that the Humanitarian Affairs Minister and the Federal Government have been inhumane and unsympathetic towards Bayelsa and Bayelsans in this monumentally trying times.

In her portfolio, its quite unsatisfactory and abysmal for such a vague statement to be released. The Humanitarian Affairs Minister has not done noble. 97% of the total landmass of Bayelsa State is still submerged in water as we speak, with approximately 98% of her population displaced.

It’s very abnormal, myopic and insensitive for the Humanitarian Affairs Minister to have released a rather provocative and Carlos statement at this moment, a time when most Bayelsans are grieved by the impact of the 2022 flooding in the state, a time when the presence and impact of her Ministry have not been felt. The Minister’s statement has brought disappointment, discontent, disgruntleness and dissatisfaction to the minds of Bayelsans towards the Federal Government.

The DG Ward-2-Ward Campaign Organisation for Sen. Douye Diri, Hon. Ogidi Ben Bara therefore urge the Humanitarian Affairs Minister to withdraw her statement and do more findings as touching the subject Supra.

In his words” Hon. Sadiya U. Farouq is expected to withdraw her statement and apologise to Bayelsans within 12 Hours, or expect response from Bayelsa State Youths ….

Signed………

Ogidi Ben Bara OBB
