The Bayelsa State Government has commended Bishop Dimeari Grammar School and St. Judes Girls school for emerging champions at the just concluded 2022, Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball Competition.
The competition held in Lagos over week.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Education Bayelsa State, Hon. Dr. Gentle E. Emelah, the government reiterated its full support to school sports which has afforded talented kids from the state the opportunity to participate in various school sporting competitions both in the State, National and International levels winning trophies at the outings.
Dr. Gentle who recalled receiving the Basketball Team in his office about a month ago, after their outing at the Equitorial Conference finals in Enugu, where he challenged them, that he would be live in Lagos to watch their final match should Team Bayelsa triumph to the finals.
True to his words he joined the Boys and Girls in Lagos as a morale booster, joined by his sports counterpart, no doubt, that singular act spurred the boy’s resilient and die hard spirit never to give up even when fourty-four seconds to the final whistle they were down, they still equalized and brought home the victory two seconds to the end of playing time.
“Indeed, the victory for both BDGS and St. Judes was divine and as a State we give all Glory to God almighty for making Bayelsa truly the Glory of all Lands”..he added.
Also, the commissioner appreciated His. Excellency Sen. Douye Diri the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State for his magnanimity towards school sports thereby making all the needed support available for the schools to participate in the competition.
