IND – The Bayelsan community in the Americas under the auspices of Concerned Bayelsans has called on His Excellency, Henry Seriake Dickson and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to make a wise choice in the August primaries to be the party’s flagbear in the November gubernatorial elections in the state. In an online chat with Izonnews Digest, a representative of the group, Mr. Anderson Ebiowei, who is a chartered accountant, said the group, which is a coalition of Bayelsans in the United States of America and Canada is of the view that Bayelsa State with its vast potentials should be entrusted in the hands of tested, experience hand with solid credibility and integrity.

According to the him, the Restoration Administration of Seriake Dickson has performed remarkably especially in the areas of infrastructural development, health and education, adding that only someone like Ambassador Godknows Igali can sustained the developmental achievements in the state and take it to the next level. He said after a critical appraisal of the contestants, the group decided to give its unflinching support to the former Ambassador who he said would do better given his rich pedigree. Further, he stated that the former Ambassador who is a true patriot and Ijaw leader has displayed passion and zeal like former governor DSP Alamieyeaeigha who fought for the Ijaw cause. He added that Ambassador Igali is a man with diverse background who could bring to bear his wealth of experience and knowledge to governance.

Speaking further, Mr. Ebiowei stressed that although the group is non political, it cannot sit on the fence at this critical time in the political development of the state as doing do is not in the interest of Bayelsans. According to him, since they cannot vote in the elections, the only way those in the Diaspora can be involved in the democratic process in the state is to make their voice known on critical public issues.

Finally, the group commended the state governor, leaders and stakeholders for the recent parly for violence free elections in the state.
