The Bayelsa State Police Command will on Monday, July 4, commence the re-enforcement of the ban on tinted vehicles and covered plate numbers in the state.

The re-enforcement is coming after vehicle owners failed to abide when the ban was initially announced in 2021.

In a statement signed on Friday by Police Public Relations Officer SP Asinim Butswat, the command lamented over the resurgence of non factory fitted tinted vehicles, Unauthorized sirens, amber lights and vehicles with covered plate number, plying the roads of Yenagoa and environs.

Further intelligence revealed that such vehicles are being used for committing henious crimes in the State.

To combat the menace, the Command has set-up a special sqd to impound vehicles with unauthorized sirens, amber lights, non factory fitted tinted glasses, and covered number plates.

“Owners of such vehicles are advised in their own interests to adhere to extant laws guiding the use of such vehicles to avoid being arrested and their vehicles impounded”, the statement read.
