Men of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit stationed in Etegwe/Tombia have effected the arrest of two notorious criminals who forcefully collected a young girl’s IPhone XR and ATM card with the sum of 12,800 (twelve thousand naira only) cash withdrawn from her account.

According to a confessional statement made available to newsmen by the alleged two culprits, confirmed that they hypnotized the girl identified as Miss Mimi from Foropa Community in Silga.

Mimi said on Sunday, 20th of February 2022, she was walking at the Pere Rich axis of Etegwe and her attention was drawn by 48yrs old fraudster identified as Matthew from Amassoma, who asked her for help and also to help her magically double her money.

Also to make the fake story so real, his partner in crime by name Ebieyi Abraham from Akassa in Brass LGA, appeared so innocent and tried to convince the innocent Mimi to believe the act.

At the time of the arrest, the iPhone had been way billed to Lagos for sale to their contact in Lagos but with the swift intervention of the security team, the phone was returned to Yenagoa on Wednesday in safe condition. The ATM card was also recovered during investigation.

The culprits have since been handed over to men of the SWAT, Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and prosecution.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo, Chairman of the agency, cautioned unsuspecting ladies to be weary of men of the underworld who may appear to them as stranded strangers asking for help or direction.

He has warned all persons without visible means of livelihood should engage themselves with employment otherwise the law will catch up with them sooner than they think.
