A council chairman in Benue, Francis Ayagah, mistakenly shouted APC slogan at a PDP rally

– The PDP elders in the council have summoned Ayagah to explain himself

– It was gathered that Ayagah may be punished for the error

The chairman of Gwer West local government area in Benue state, Francis Ayagah has come under severe attack after reportedly shouting All Progressives Congress (APC) at a rally organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Nation reports that Ayagah was elected chairman on the platform of the APC but defected to the PDP in the wake of the new political realignment in Benue which was caused by Governor Samuel Ortom’s defection.

TRACK NEWS gathers that the rally was organised by Governor Ortom’s wife, Eunice, for the governor’s re-election in the local government area.

However, when the chairman mounted the podium to address the rally, he shouted APC two times, getting no response from the PDP supporters who reportedly felt embarrassed.

It was gathered that the PDP elders in the local government, where the wife of the governor hails from, did not take it lightly with Ayagah.

He was subsequently summoned before the PDP elders to explain the error.

Ayagah was allegedly found kneeling down before the elders. It could, however, not be ascertained if he was forced to kneel down.

It was reported that the council chairman will be punished for the mistake.

Meanwhile, Track News previously reported that Governor Ortom of Benue state accused President Muhammadu Buhari of lacking the capacity to provide lasting solutions to recurrent conflicts between farmers and herdsmen across the country because he is an interested party.

Ortom stated this in his interaction with traditional rulers at the palace of Chief Daniel Abomtse in Gwer West local government area in Naka.

The Benue governor reportedly accused President Buhari of taking sides with the herdsmen rather than tackling the farmers/herdsmen crises appropriately.
