The Bobby-Ugo Charity Foundation has commenced the construction of a mini pavilion in Okoloba/Sabagreia Town, located in the Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The initiative marks a significant step by the foundation to support community development and contribute meaningfully to the well-being of local residents.
The founder of the foundation, Comrade Ebikpoemi Bobby Ugo—widely known as Bobby—disclosed that the project was motivated by a strong desire to give back to his roots. According to him, the commonly held belief that “charity begins at home” played a central role in the decision to locate the new structure in his hometown.
Speaking at the groundbreaking event, Bobby emphasized that the pavilion is a direct response to recurring requests from the community, particularly in connection to the annual Okoloba/Sabagreia football tournament. He noted that each festive season, the tournament organizers face challenges related to the rental and availability of basic facilities needed to host the event.
To alleviate these difficulties, the Bobby-Ugo Charity Foundation resolved to provide a permanent solution by constructing a mini pavilion that would serve not only as a sporting venue but also as a multi-purpose recreational center.
The facility, once completed, is expected to include modern amenities designed to accommodate football enthusiasts, youth groups, fans, and visitors from within and outside the community. In addition to sports-related activities, the space is envisioned as a hub for travelers and for hosting various recreational games and social events.
Bobby noted that the initiative is one of many community-focused interventions his foundation plans to undertake. He reaffirmed the organization’s long-term commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents through strategic and sustainable development projects.
The project was formally announced by the Director General of the Bobby-Ugo Charity Foundation, David W. Ugo, who echoed the founder’s sentiments and described the pavilion as a symbol of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to empower local communities.
David W. Ugo further highlighted the foundation’s broader mission of supporting underserved populations, noting that the mini pavilion represents just one aspect of its dedication to social impact. He called on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the foundation’s commitment to grassroots development.
Residents of Okoloba/Sabagreia have expressed optimism and gratitude for the project, with many seeing it as a long-overdue development that would significantly improve community life. Some locals noted that the pavilion would serve as a unifying center where young people can gather positively, reducing the tendency toward idle behavior and potentially discouraging youth involvement in social vices.
Construction work on the pavilion is already underway, with the foundation pledging to complete the project within a realistic time frame. The foundation has not yet provided a specific completion date but assures that quality and functionality remain top priorities.
The Bobby-Ugo Charity Foundation has previously carried out a number of philanthropic activities within and outside Bayelsa State, including education-focused donations, youth empowerment programs, and healthcare outreach efforts. The pavilion project reinforces the foundation’s status as a major non-governmental player in the social development landscape of the Niger Delta region.
As work progresses on the pavilion, community members and local leaders alike are keeping a close watch, eager to see the vision materialize. For many, the initiative is not just about bricks and mortar—it symbolizes recognition, empowerment, and a renewed sense of hope for a more connected and resourceful community.
