The pastor abducted from Pemi village in the Chibok LGA of Borno State in December 2020 by Boko Haram, Pastor Bulus Yakuru, has revealed he survived the captivity by “the grace of God.”

It will be recalled that TrackNews Online previously reported that Boko Haram told the federal government that it had 7 days to pay a ransom for the pastor or he would be killed.

Yakuru who was abducted in December 2020 when the insurgents attacked Pemi village, close to Chibok on the eve of Christmas in 2020, has since being in their custody despite earlier appeals from him through videos released by the group in December 2020 and again in January 2021 for the government and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to come to his rescue.

However, the lucky clergy regained his freedom from Boko Harm on Wednesday evening, March 3, 2021.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, Yakuru noted that he was glad to be reunited with his wife and children.

Yakuru said he had, however, been warned by the security agencies not to disclose “his ordeal and rescue” because of the sensitive nature of the matter.

“I thank God. I am glad to be back. My wife and children are also happy. I survived it all by the grace of God. Thank you,” he said.

It was gathered that Pastor Yakuru had left Chibok in Borno State and relocated his family to another town in another state – the specifics of which were held for security reasons.

Yakuru, his wife and three children last Friday, after observing a church thanksgiving in Pemi village, Chibok LGA, left the community.
