TRACKING___The All Progressive Congress (APC) has announced that six candidates for governorship election in Edo will be considered for their primary elections.

The exercise has been scheduled for June 22.

Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC’s national public relations secretary, said in a statement Friday that the candidates had bought, filled out and submitted their expressions of interest and nomination forms.

They are Gov. Godwin Obaseki, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Pius Odubu, Chris Ogiemwonyi, Osaro Obazee and Matthew Aigbuhuenze Iduoriyekemwen.

The APC stated that it wanted to ensure due diligence and transparency in the review and to learn from recent frightening experiences, and was determined not to make any mistakes in doing so.

“Therefore, we are making available to our party members and the public the information and documents submitted by the candidates for governor for the purpose of reviewing the complaints and are supporting the selection panel with information or objections to the complaints contained in the candidates’ applications.

The various submissions will be displayed at the national party secretariat in Abuja and in Benin, the capital of Edo State, from Monday, 8 June to Tuesday, 9 June 2020, for the purpose of filing claims and objections.

The party invited its members and the public to assist the selection committee by reviewing the information, credentials and documents submitted by the candidates for governor and, if necessary, by providing the selection committee with contrary and correct information.

The submission of completed forms and supporting documents was completed on Wednesday, 3 June 2020.

The statement stated that the publication of applications and objections would take place from Monday, 8 June to Tuesday, 9 June 2020.

The review of applicants is scheduled for Wednesday, 10 June to Thursday, 11 June 2020.

A call for applications will be made on Friday 12 June 2020.

The primary elections will take place on Monday, June 22, 2020, while the election appeal is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
