Former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima has been reportedly picked as the running mate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
TrackNews reports that Tinubu had earlier submitted the name of Alhaji Kabiru Masari to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a placeholder capacity for the 2023 general elections.
The APC national leader had until July 15 as the deadline set by INEC to make any substitution.
Reports over the weekend made it clear that Tinubu who returned to Nigeria from France on Friday will announce the name of his substantive running mate before next Friday.
Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO) had affirmed this also.
According to Vanguard, Tinubu has resolved to pick Shettima as his standard running mate for the 2023 election.
The news confirmed the statement made by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State which said that the ruling party may be fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential race.
