Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar who is the Candidate of The People Democratic Party PDP in the 2019 and 2023 Presidential Election has expressed deep concern over the Nigerian military’s increasing occurrence of miscalculated airstrikes.

Abubakar was reacting to the drone airstrike that tragically hit the Tudun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State during the celebration of the Maulud anniversary, resulting in dozens of fatalities and numerous injuries.

The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections called for advanced counterinsurgency strategies to safeguard civilians from such catastrophic incidents.

In his statement, Abubakar called upon authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the tragic event, emphasizing the urgency of preventing similar occurrences in the future.

He urged an immediate focus on providing extensive medical care to the injured and supporting the affected families.

Atiku in his words:

”The incidence of miscalculated air strikes is assuming a worrisome dimension in the country.

”We need to develop counterinsurgency strategies that will insulate the civilian population from tragic incidents of this nature.

”I call on the authorities to launch a thorough investigation into this tragedy to avert future occurrences.”

The devastating strike has prompted widespread shock and concern, drawing attention to the pressing need for improved safety measures during such celebrations and a reevaluation of military tactics to prioritize civilian protection.
