BREAKING: Ganduje Set to Resign as APC National Chairman

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, is set to resign from his position on Friday.

The move, it is understood follows intense pressure from stakeholders within the APC, especially from the North Central zone, who have repeatedly called for the chairmanship position to return to their region. Ganduje’s expected resignation also comes amid mounting internal opposition over his leadership style and the party’s internal power dynamics.

Ganduje, who assumed office in August 2023 following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu, has faced sustained agitation from North Central leaders who argue that their region deserves to produce the next party chairman.

In what appears to be a calculated political compromise, the APC is reportedly planning to appoint one of its current national vice chairmen as acting chairman until a new substantive leader is elected at the party’s national convention scheduled for December.

Sources close to the APC National Working Committee revealed that Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, was persuaded to step aside as part of broader efforts to stabilise the party and strengthen its unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
