An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, has discharged Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of unruly behaviour and assault aboard an Ibom Air flight.

Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the five-count charge against Emmanson on Wednesday after the police formally withdrew the case.

The charges had alleged that Emmanson disrupted peace on board the flight, assaulted a crew member, and acted in a manner capable of breaching public order. She had pleaded not guilty at her arraignment.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, Police Prosecutor Oluwabunmi Adeitan told the court that both the complainant and the airline had decided not to pursue the matter further. She said the decision to withdraw the case came on the instructions of police authorities.

Magistrate Salami granted the application and ordered Emmanson’s discharge, effectively bringing the case to an end.
