A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) MI-35P helicopter crashed at approximately 7.45 am today, moments after takeoff.

The incident occurred shortly after the aircraft took off for an operation against economic saboteurs in Rivers State.

Miraculously, all five crew members onboard have survived with minor injuries!

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, is en route to Port Harcourt to assess the situation firsthand, ensure the crew’s well-being, and provide further directives.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force made this known in a statement.

He also emphasized the risks and dangers inherent in military flying, acknowledging the courageous efforts of NAF pilots and technicians in defending the nation and thwarting criminal activities.
