The Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun screening of the Special Assistant to the President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, and other nominees for appointment as National Commissioners of the electoral body.

The screening is set to commence at Senate Chambers.

Recall that the president had recently nominated Onochie for the job.

The nomination stirred controversies as some Nigerians, including top political officials, condemned her inclusion in the list of nominees.

According to them, her alleged partisanship does not qualify her to occupy the position.
