President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the deployment of nine federal permanent secretaries to new duty posts.

The approval was contained in a circular dated August 3, 2021, and titled ‘Deployment of permanent secretaries,’ which was signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan.

Those affected by the deployment are four newly appointed permanent secretaries and five old permanent secretaries including the wife of the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, Dr. Evelyn Ngige.

The new permanent secretaries and their portfolios are Onwudiwe Ngozi as Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; Ogunbiyi Olaniyi, Career Management Office of the HOCSF; Yusuf Ibrahim, Common Service Office of the HOCSF; and Adebiyi Olufunso, Ministry of Women Affairs.

The old permanent secretaries redeployed to new ministries are Evelyn Ngige from Staff Welfare Office of the HOCSF to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Development; Nasir Gwazo from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Development to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources; Bitrus Baku from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy; Mamman Mamuda from the Career Management Office of the HOCSF to the Ministry of Health; and Anthonia Ekpa from the Ministry of Women Affairs to the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs.

“This deployment takes immediate effect and handing over and taking over process should be completed on or before Friday, August 6, 2021 except for Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health whose take over will be on August 13, 2021,” the circular noted.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has lamented the multiple court orders issued on the November 6 Anambra governorship election.

TrackNews Online reports that various court orders have declared different candidates of the same party eligible for the Anambra election since INEC released the list of cleared candidates last month.

Speaking at the implementation meeting of the Voter Education and Publicity Department in Anambra State on Tuesday, INEC spokesman, Festus Okoye, said the Commission is worried that the various court orders may affect the conduct of the exercise.

Okoye added that some of the orders have the tendency of eroding the powers of the Commission and compromising its independence, powers and timelines for the conduct of the election.
