Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Katsina gives nine APCs to law enforcement
Security forces are to invade these countries to fight oil thieves and vandals there and bring them to justice, according to President Muhammadu Buhari.

During the launching of eight gunboats for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola made this statement (NSCDC).

“People who steal crude oil deprive the nation of much-needed funds and also sell the stolen items at steep discounts much below market value. The illegal market drives down the official price by causing an oversupply. As a result, Nigeria is now facing a combined threat of income loss and a decline in product value.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has provided us with the means and the mandate to go to battle with them. The Federal Government is making sufficient efforts to equip essential security organizations, including the NSCDC, which is the principal organization in charge of protecting vital infrastructure and assets, as a move in this direction, the minister added.

According to the most recent estimate, oil thieves and vandals steal billions of dollars, claimed a statement published under the minister’s media assistant Sola Fasure. There is no denying that the Federal Government is devoted and motivated to stop the oil theft problem that is blindly draining the economy and causing a decline in government revenue.

Additionally, the government of Katsina State recently gave nine armored personnel carriers (APC) to security organizations battling terrorism, particularly in nine of the state’s frontline local government areas.

While the military weaponry was being presented, Governor Aminu Masari stated that his administration was working to acquire more APCs for a successful struggle against the outlaws.

He applauded the police inspector general for contributing two APCs to support state security operations.

“The state administration is also working on the social element of the security operations in the state through country and state social programs to give succor for the victims of banditry attacks,” he stated.
