President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the death of Hajiya Mairo Sa’idu Daura, wife of Emir of Daura’s late older brother.

In a statement on Sunday by his media assistant, Garba Shehu, Buhari expressed deep condolences over the demise.

He said the deceased was a respected woman who worked for the welfare of the community, stressing that the passing of Mairo is an irreparable loss.

“I remember with absolute admiration, the motherly role played by the deceased throughout the Daura community and beyond. I am deeply shocked to learn of her sad demise.”

President Buhari also condoled with the family, Emir, Alhaji Umar Faruk, and the people of Daura.

He extended sympathy to the children, Ambassador Adamu Sa’idu Daura, Abdulkadir Sa’idu (PPPRA Executive Secretary) and Uba Bashir Daura.

Meanwhile, Gunmen have invaded about 30 communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing not less than 19 persons during the attack.

Naija News gathered the armed bandits invaded Kutemeshi village of Kuyello District in Birnin-Gwari around 5pm on Saturday.

The bodies of those killed during the attack have been buried in the early hours of Sunday, a youth leader in the community disclosed to PR Nigeria.

The youth leader who spoke on condition of anonymity said the bandits operated unchecked for about two hours, killing many villagers in the process while 10 persons sustained gunshot wounds and others lucky ones were able to escpape.

“We called severally for security reinforcement, but only a handful of volunteer-vigilantes came to our rescue around 7.00 pm, after the bandits had fled to bush. In fact, it was today (Sunday) that armed security finally stormed our community,” he said.
