Buhari Fixes Date To Meet APC Presidential Aspirants, Reveal Preferred Candidate

Barring any unforseen circumstances, President Muhammadu Buhari will on Sunday meet with all presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

TrackNews understands that the President will also reveal his preferred presidential candidate during the meeting.

A top federal government official stated that Buhari will embark on a short trip to Ghana today (Saturday) and return back to the nation later in the day.

According to the source who spoke to The PUNCH, President Buhari is expected to meet with the PDP presidential aspirants on Saturday night or Sunday.

This online newspaper reports that the APC presidential screening committee had on Friday afternoon submitted its report to the party’s leadership.

Former APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, who headed the committee, stated that only 13 from the 23 candidates were cleared to participate in the primary.

According to Odigie-Oyegun, only youthful aspirants made the list of aspirants cleared.

TrackNews reports that those vying for the APC ticket are; former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, other aspirants are the Senate President Ahmad Lawan and former ministers Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbonnaya Onu, Godswill Akpabio, and Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.

Serving governors who are also aspiring to be president are Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa).

Others are former Senate President Ken Nnamani, former House of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, and serving senators Ibikunle Amosun, Ajayi Boroffice, and Rochas Okorocha.

Pastor Tunde Bakare, Uju Ken-Ohanenye, Nicholas Felix, Ahmad Rufai Sani, Tein Jack-Rich, Ikeobasi Mokelu.
