Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

The necessity for Nigeria and India to strengthen their current security, political, and economic ties has been emphasized by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The President emphasized that the two nations had strong links in terms of economy, politics, and security while hosting the Indian Minister of State for External and Parliamentary Affairs, Vellamvelly Muraleedharan, at the State House in Abuja.

Buhari claimed that Indians founded the Nigerian Defence Academy to further the friendly ties between the two countries.

In order to further the interests of both nations, he asserts that Nigeria and India must maintain and strengthen their long-standing partnership.

The president also reflected on his year-long military officer training in the nation.

When asked about the 1973 visit, the president remarked, “It was a very pleasant experience. I spent a year in India at that time and I believe I was a Lt. Colonel. We went and interacted with individuals from other nations. It was incorporated into my military career’s success tale.

The Minister, who is in the nation to participate in the Nigeria-India Business Council meeting, referred to Nigeria earlier in his speech as the “hub of our relationship with Africa.”

Buhari, according to him, is a “deserving alumnus of our Defense Services College.”

Muraleedharan delivered greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and added that there are strong ties between Nigeria and India in a variety of sectors, including business, defense, and education.

According to him, Nigeria is eager to work with India, the greatest democracy in the world, to ensure the success of the general elections in 2023.
