President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his condolences to the Nelson family over the death of frontline politician and advocate of the womenfolk, Chief Kemi Nelson.
Kemi, 66, was said to have died after a brief illness.
She was one of the close loyalists of APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
In a statement signed on Sunday by senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari commiserated with Tinubu over the loss of “a consistent and faithful party member who devoted so much to the evolution, development, sustenance and relevance of the party in Lagos and around the country.”
Until her death, Kemi Nelson was a former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Lagos State, the State Women Leader, National Deputy Women Leader of APC, and former Executive Director of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund.
She was only female member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
She is survived by her husband, Adeyemi Nelson and her children.
