Like Sayyu Dantata, Like Wale Tinubu
The saying that when a person engages in an act repeatedly it becomes a part of him is a popular one.
However, this theory appears not to apply to some individuals.
Having played largely in the oil and gas industry, many would expect the duo of Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Oando Plc, and Sayyu Dantata, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MRS Holdings Limited to have become veterans of the sector.
However, this doesn’t seem the situation, as recent information on the importation of substandard fuel into Nigeria has indicted both men among other people.
According to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the anguish being experienced by Nigerians in a bid to access fuel was caused by the companies of the duo following the importation of substandard fuel.
NMDPRA’s statement has also been corroborated by Mallam Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Company Limited (NNPC), having revealed that MRS, Oando, Duke Oil, and a consortium consisting of Emadeb/Hyde/AY Maikifi/Brittania-U were responsible for bringing into the country fuel containing a higher level of methanol than Nigeria’s specification.
