The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the United Nations (UN), and other policymakers, as well as other local and international operators and investors, will be hosted by the Minister of Power, Mr. Abubakar Aliyu, in Lagos next month to engage in dialogue and offer solutions to the numerous issues plaguing the Nigerian electricity supply industry (NESI).

The 9th Nigeria Energy Conference in 2022, which is being organized by the Dubai-based company Informa Markets under the theme “Affordable Reliable and Sustainable Energy via Collaboration,” will bring together dignitaries and industry players.

The chief executive officer/special representative of the UN secretary-general for sustainable energy for all and co-chair of UN-Energy, Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi, would deliver a keynote address on the second day, according to the organizers. Aliyu would deliver the opening address on the first day.

Mr. Ade Yesufu, Exhibition Manager, Energy Portfolio, Middle East and Africa, Informa Markets, revealed the program’s specifics at a press conference in Lagos. He stated that the three-day event would take place in Lagos from September 20 to 22, 2022, with over 3000 attendees and over 100 exhibitors from 21 countries anticipated.

He claimed that in order for Nigeria’s electricity sector to compete worldwide and have sustainable growth, it was urgently in need of technical modernization and digitalization.
The first stage, according to Yesufu, would be to draw important local and foreign investors who would engage in discussions with other stakeholders and look for workable solutions to the problems facing the energy sector.

“With Nigerian energy, we will accomplish this. The ninth edition will advance these discussions and provides a forum for reflecting on some of the changes that the electricity sector is experiencing internationally, he said.
The energy conference, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Power, is said to be the largest gathering of energy specialists in Africa and will feature prominent, cutting-edge power enterprises.

The whole range of energy products, including conventional power generation, transmission and distribution (T&D), renewable energy, and energy consumption and management in West Africa, will be available for visitors to learn about.

“To lead the discussion on boosting West Africa’s sustainable energy supply, the 9th edition of the event will bring together energy equipment manufacturers, distributors, procurement experts, dealers, and regulators. Over 100 exhibitors representing over 21 nations are anticipated to be there, along with over 3,000 stakeholders, according to the organizers.
