Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

As part of its annual social project, Emerald Zone, a business advisory, human capital development, and marketing communications firm, has finalized plans to organize this year’s Code Zone, where interested teenagers are taught coding skills.

On August 1, 2022, the coding class will begin. Emerald stated that the coding class is aimed at primary and secondary school children, teenagers, and preteens aged 10 to 18, who want to improve their coding skills.

Mrs. Olufunke Akinloye, a director at Emerald and the initiative’s initiator, explained that the classes were created to spark young people’s interest in technology, regardless of social economic class or subject of study in school.

Mrs. Akinloye believes that this will allow the children and their parents to appreciate the limitless possibilities that coding knowledge provides. “We are determined to equip the young with the necessary skills that will give them the confidence to face and make a significant impact in the world they are growing into,” Mrs. Akinloye said.

According to the organizer, over 50 teenagers and preteens were trained in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript during the month-long summer program at the Code Zone, a two-hour daily coding class established in 2019.

“Every participant expresses their learnings by bringing to life projects in their areas of interest,” Mrs. Akinloye said of the training method. This enables them to express their creativity while also putting what they’ve learned into practice.”

Some grateful parents have praised the coding class organizers. “My son has been a regular participant in the Code Zone program since its inception, and I am so proud of how far he has come.” He started with the Fundamentals Course. Mrs Ayoola-Oni explained, “He is now in the advanced stage of JavaScript.”

“Everything about Code Zone is fantastic; the instructors are experts and professionals.” They go above and beyond, and I am always happy that my son is enjoying his vacation.”

“My daughter was so excited about the Code Zone last year that she has been reminding me that it will be held this year and she intends to participate,” Mr. Olajokus said. We certainly gained a lot from the program.”
