Prince Adewole Adebayo, the standard bearer of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has said God will defeat people’s canal expectations in the upcoming 2023 presidential elections, even as he advised Nigerians, particularly the clergy, to pray rather than predict who will be Nigeria’s President.
He claims that the person who will save the country is not the one on whom Nigerians are currently focused.
Adebayo was speaking at the Christain Association of Nigeria’s (CAN) Presidential handover ceremony in Abuja yesterday, where its immediate past President, Reverend Samson Ayokunle, handed over to his successor, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh.
“The clergy are called the instrument of God because they devote their entire life to the service of God, and nothing will happen, whether it is politics or anything else, that will turn people who are instruments of God into instruments of men,” says the prince of Ondo Kingdom.
“The church will only serve God and will never be used by those who play politics; it will only serve God and His will alone will prevail.”
“When it comes to the crisis, canal expectations aren’t where the solutions are. When Israel’s armies faced Goliath, they expected and hoped that one of those generals would save them, but God had a different plan.
“God sent an unexpected David, who was not well-known and was not a member of the army, to save Israel.” The person who will save the Christian community and Nigeria is not the one we expect.
“This is the person whom God will reveal to us through our prayers.” We should pray rather than predict, and we should let God be in charge.”
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate; Governor Okowa of Delta State, and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; and Governor Otorm of Benue State were among those in attendance.
