TRACKING>>ASABA—THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC are engulfed in accusation and counter-accusation of an attempted assassination and destruction of property of their party candidates standing in for elections in the forthcoming general election.
While the APC is accusing the PDP of sending suspected thugs to assassinate its candidate in Ika Federal Constituency, Mr. Sebastian Okoh, the PDP House of Assembly candidate in Ika
North East State Constituency, Mr. Anthony Elekeokuri alleged that suspected APC thugs stormed his ongoing project site and destroyed the building, his father’s house and six PDP branded campaign vehicles.
While charging his supporters to remain calm even in the face of provocations and unwarranted attacks, he said he would continue to encourage peace in Umunede community as well as all parts of Ika North East.

He held that the essence of governance was for peace, security, and welfare of the people.
He said: “This kind of attack is alien to Umunede community and I wonder why someone I consider a friend and brother should encourage his supporters to start destroying the property of others in the name of politics.
“I appeal to you all to be calm and vigilant. When one is unpopular, he resorts to violence. This kind of injustice and darkness can never stand in our peace-loving community. We have been campaigning vigorously as a party for PDP candidates. We know that victory is sure.”
