Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

THE RESIDENTS OF Ilobu, Osun State, have petitioned the state government to repair the Laaro Bridge, which is on the verge of collapsing.

Pastor Olufemi Salako, President of Ilobu-Asake Development Union (IDU), made the appeal on behalf of the people of the town during a press conference commemorating Ilobu Day.

Salako bemoaned that the Laaro Bridge had become a death trap and nearly impassable, isolating many communities from the Ilobu township.

He also urged the Federal Government to complete the new Ojutu Bridge, which was recently opened to vehicular traffic.

He stated that the Ilobu Day Celebration was created to highlight the ancient town’s rich cultural heritage and to chart a new course for the town and its people’s development.

He stated that the IDU would organize a free healthcare program that would include medical treatment and surgical procedures, and that 100 indigenous people had registered for the program.

He applauded Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s administration for rehabilitating the Ilobu-Osogbo road.

“While we greatly commend the Osun State government for the reconstruction of our roads,” he says, “we want to urgently address the Laaro Bridge, which has become a death trap and impassable.”
