The Niger Delta University (NDU) lecturer, Dr. Ndutimi Dudafa, who was abducted from his home in Gbarantoru in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State one month ago, has regained freedom.

Dudafa, a lecturer with the Sociology Department, was abducted on July 12, 2018 and taken away via the waterfront close to his house.

Dudafa said his abductors abandoned him at the Onuebum waterfront in the Ogbia Local Government Area, and released him in the early hours of Friday.

The lecturer, who said he was blindfolded before being dropped at the waterfront, said no ransom was paid by his family. He also declined to give reason for his abduction.

He said: “I wish to thank the press and all well-wishers, who played one role or the other that led to my freedom.”

The Bayelsa State Police Command, Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butwat could not be reached for comments, as at the time of filing this report.
