Former Netherlands international Ruud Gullit claims Cristiano Ronaldo is regretting his decision to return to Manchester United, Track News reports.
Gullit elaborated on this during an interview at the Laureus Academy.
The Red Devils were defeated 4-0 by Brentford on Saturday, just a week after losing to Brighton.
Erik ten Hag’s side are now bottom of the Premier League table, with no points from their first two games.
Goals from Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee, and Bryan Mbeumo ensured the Bees’ three-point victory over the Red Devils.
Ronaldo is said to have decided to stay at the club this season after requesting permission to join a Champions League club.
When asked if the Portuguese legend regrets his decision to return to Old Trafford in 2021, Gullit replied, “That’s my feeling.” He doesn’t say it, but I believe he is sorry because of the team that was present.
“I believe he expected a better performance, so he’ll want to show everyone who criticized him at Manchester United how much he’s still worth.”
“I believe he has that mission.”
