TRACKING > head of 2023 guber race, a foremost Delta ljaw politician who doubles as a former Council Chairman, as well as Commissioner for Agriculture in Delta State, Dr. Braduce Amakazi Angozi has challenged Urhobo Nation to stop dancing ‘Ekwe’ and stay clear for ljaw, lsoko and Ndokwa ethnic groups to produce the next governor of Delta state, noting that Urhobo has produced governor for eight years in the state.

Dr. Angozi make the statement in Warri yesterday 6th January, 2020 while playing host to a team of Delta Ijaw Media Publishers, stated categorically that, there was no date in the past when the various ethnic groups in Delta State come to an agreement in zoning the governorship seat according to senatorial basis. Those Urhobos from Delta Central clamoring for 2023 as their birth right to produce the next governor of Delta state are deceiving themselves and not we the ljaws.

The ljaw political pope stressed further that, how can Urhobo Nation even think of producing governor again at a state where we have over five ethnic groups ? The ljaw, lsoko and Kwale ethnic groups have not produced governor in the state, and by right they are supposed to agitate for 2023 and not the Urhobo man. For the sake of equity, fairness and justice, l urged my Urhobo brothers to wait and allow the governorship seat go round the above mentioned three ethnic groups to taste the feel of power before Urhobo again.

Giving the breakdown of political analysis from 1999 to date in the state, Dr. Braduce stated that; ” Urhobo Nation had produced the first Executive Governor of Delta State, in the person of Chief. James Ibori, who was my boss while l was a council chairman during his first tenure. Chief. Ibori served an uninterrupted two terms of eight years and handover to ltsekiri Nation, in the person of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan. Dr. Uduaghan also enjoyed two terms of eight years without a bit of mosquito, and handover to Okowa. Presently, the Anioma Nation under Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa is doing justice to his eight years of two terms in office. He has served five years, remaining three years to complete his tenure and go. The next in line is the ljaws to produce their governor, and thereafter the lsoko and Kwale ethnic nationality to produce their own before the Urhobo Nation can come again. It is very funny and ridiculous for the Urhobo man to clamor for governor in 2023 when they know that the governorship seat has not go round the other ethnic groups that made up Delta State. I therefore, advise my Urhobo neighbours to mellow down and work in hand with the ljaws to produce the next governor of Delta State comes 2023, Dr. Angozi asserted.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Angozi thank and appreciated the Delta Ijaw Media Publishers for the good works they are doing with their various media organizations in promoting and protecting the interest of Ijaw Nation. He said it was the Westerners, especially the Yoruba’s that started making use of the media in Nigeria to promote and project their interest in order to attract development to their region. But today, the ljaws are toeing the same line, hence l am very happy to identify with you in order to encourage you for your good works. Keep it up and l bet you, the sky is your stepping stone, he stated.

However, among those ljaw media organizations present at the meeting includes; Niger Delta Mirror, Daily Watch, Focal Points, The Liberator, Gbaramatu Voice, Egbema Voice, ljaw Voice, Kpooka Reporters and Coastal Times respectively.
