The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the movement of non sensitive materials to the 21 local government areas of Anambra will be concluded on Friday.

Mr Leo Nkedife, Head of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC Anambra, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Awka.

Nkedife said that the commission hired five trucks to fast track distribution of the non sensitive materials across the 21 councils in the state.

”Given the arrangements on ground, we will succeed in moving all the non sensitive materials to all the local government areas in Anambra by Friday.

”We hired five trucks to enable us achieve the distribution of the materials, but for the sensitive materials, that will be concluded by next Friday,” he said

He said that the sensitive materials would be brought from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to INEC office on Thursday, adding that the distribution to local government areas would be done on Friday.

On the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), the INEC official said that the commission was impressed with the rate owners of the PVCs were responding to the collection.

”Before, we received the more than 180, 000 PVCs from our headquarters after the completion of the 2018 continuous voters registration, we had more than 120, 000 uncollected cards.

”This brings it to more than 300,000 the number of uncollected cards, but today the number has reduced significantly.’’

He said that available Information to his office showed that many people were going for their cards on daily basis.

Nkedife attributed the success in the PVCs distribution to intensified sensitisation and mobilisation by INEC, traditional rulers, media, political parties, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) among others.

He, however, called on those yet to collect their cards to ensure they do so before Feb.8.

‘Nkedife stressed “After Feb.8, all uncollected cards will be returned to INEC office, Awka till the end of the general elections.”
