Domestic equity sheds N111bn

Domestic equity market yesterday closed in negative trend , shedding N111 billion as lose recorded by Nestle Nigeria Plc helped to drag the market down.

Market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.42 per cent to N26.42 trillion from N26.531 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 206.87 basis points to 48964.83 points from 49171.70 points traded the previous day.

Investors during the day traded 220.78 million shares valued at N2.25 billion in 3105 deals against 101.569 million shares worth N1.197 billion in 3981 deals.

A review of the transactions showed that

Jaiz Bank led gainers table during the day , appreciating by 9.21 per cent to N0.83, Ikeja Hotel followed with account of 8.77 per cent to N1.24, Multiverse gained 8.21 per cent to N3.69, Chi Plc added 7.55 per cent to N0.57, Chams Plc increased by 7.41 per cent to N0.29.

On the contrary, Nestle Nigeria Plc topped losers chart during the day, dropping by 10.00 per cent to N1215.00, AfriPrudential trailed with a loss of 8.26 per cent to N5.00, FCMB group down by 6.00 per cent to N3.29, AIICO Insurance fell by 5.45 per cent to N0.52, United Capital dipped by 4.26 per cent to N11.25.
