Don’t Allow Yourself To Be An Instrument To Destabilize Nigeria – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has cautioned those nurturing any plan to destabilize Nigeria to have a rethink as his government won’t allow such.

President Buhari gave the stern warning on Tuesday in Abuja at an event where he hosted State Governors and Ministers to iftar dinner (breaking of the Ramadan fast).

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was also present at the dinner.

He wondered why Nigerians themselves would be the ones trying to destroy their own country through reckless actions capable of causing the breakdown of law and order.

The President however clearly stated that no person or group of persons would be allowed to destabilize the country.

‘‘We have the land, we have the resources, and we have the people.

“But I do not know why people will allow themselves to be successfully subverted to destabilize their own country,” Buhari said as quoted in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

Speaking on the forthcoming 2023 general elections, President Buhari assured that the polls will be free, fair and credible.

He said the introduction of technology into the electoral process and the use of Permanent Voters Card (PVCs) will make it impossible for anyone to illegally claim millions of votes again in the country.

The President added that Nigeria will also overcome the current security challenges.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, commended the leadership and commitment of the President

‘‘We have a leader who is not distracted by momentary challenges but has continued to commit to the renewal of our nation and we, governors, ministers and heads of government agencies are equally dedicated to building a better Nigeria, on your watch,’’ he said.
