The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has advised Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State not to drag the group into his rift with his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha.

In a statement on Wednesday by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, the Biafra group urged the governor to expose its financial backers, stating its supporters home and abroad are its sponsors.

IPOB also accused Uzodinma of planning to implicate his political enemies by naming them as sponsors of the outlawed group.

The group submitted that Uzodinma would have been one of its sponsors if they were swayed by money. Of

The statement reads in part: “He has already concluded plans to implicate some of his political opponents, and the only fastest way to accomplish such mission is to brand them sponsors of IPOB.

“The only crime committed by the innocent people including some traditional rulers that the government intends to implicate was that they told the government to stop killing Imo youths.”

Recall that IPOB had stated that Governor Uzodinma of Imo State and his predecessor, Senator Rochas Okorocha are not their sponsors.

The group revealed that its supporters and members in Nigeria and abroad are the sources of its sponsorship, dissociating itself from any politician.

IPOB boasted that no singular individual can be its sponsor, adding that it doesn’t need governor Uzodinma, Senator Okorocha or his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu as its sponsor.

The statement reads: “For the umpteenth time, no single individual can sponsor IPOB. We are a global movement and millions of our family members home and abroad remain the source of our sponsorship.

“We have never hidden this fact because we are not a secret or terror organisation. IPOB is well-grounded and we don’t need any Okorocha, Uche Nwosu or Hope Uzodinma or any politician for that matter to sponsor us. We have no dealings with corrupt politicians and people with a questionable source of wealth.”
