Don’t plunge Adamawa in crisis – Atiku warns INEC over delay in declaring guber results

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has condemned the delay in the declaration of the results of the governorship election in Adamawa State.

Atiku warned that the delay threatens the peace of the state as the uncertainty it is causing has continued to raise undue tension among the people.

Atiku who addressed newsmen in his Yola home Monday afternoon said there was no need for the delay in concluding announcements on the results,

Atiku alleged that even if the result of Fufore LGA is added to the already collated number, it would make no difference.

He said, “The votes have been given and uploaded on the INEC platform and PDP is winning. It makes no difference when you add the Fufore result, so I see no need for the delay in concluding the process.”

Atiku added, “Adamawa is a peaceful state, but by its action, INEC has put the state on edge.”

Track news reports that Yola has been on edge since the early hours of Monday when INEC failed to announce the results from Fufore and make a definite statement on the election.

Thugs had gone violent and harassed motorists and other residents, as they protested the failure of INEC to conclude collation and possibly declare a winner.

INEC had suspended collation about midnight Sunday, asking for time to address issues with the Fufore result before resuming collation by noon today, but up to nearly 3pm when this report was filed, INEC was yet to resume collation
