Some indigenes of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital under the auspices of Movement for the Actualization of Ibadan State have advised their kinsmen against electing candidates with questionable or doubtful family and ancestral backgrounds in 2023.The group urged voters in Oyo South senatorial district not to vote for people whose identity, family and ancestral history are not known in Ibadan. Our correspondent gathered that Oyo South senatorial district is made up of nine (9) local government areas. The local government areas are; Ibadan North, Ibadan North West, Ibadan North East, Ibadan South East, Ibadan South West, Ido, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North and Ibarapa Central. The group appealed to their kinsmen to be wary of candidates who do not have any affiliation with Ibadan. The group while speaking further, insisted that those who have represented the senatorial district in the past such as former governors; Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja and Abiola Ajimobi, Senators Olufemi Lanlehin and Soji Akanbi and the incumbent, Kola Balogun are people whose family houses and ancestral backgrounds are known in Ibadan history. In a communique issued at the end of its periodic meeting, the group insisted that it was set up for the realization of the creation of Ibadan State, warning that candidates who do not have traceable family and ancestral history in Ibadan will not support the call for the creation of Ibadan state which is long overdue. The group led by Muili Ajibodu in the communique made available to journalists in Ibadan on Friday, explained that votes in Ibadanland must be carefully utilized and advised people to choose carefully between the other contestants who do not have identity crisis in Oyo south senatorial district.Ajibodu in the communique said, “The Movement for the Actualization of Ibadan State is a non for profit pressure group set up by a group of Ibadan sons and daughters with the primary aim of seeing to the realization of the creation of Ibadan State agenda.“In view of the above, the executive council of the Movement for the Actualization of Ibadan State hereby call on every eligible son and daughter of Ibadanland most especially the five main local governments within the Ibadan metropolis to be wary of persons with questionable backgrounds, shrouded in secrecy, controversy and unverifiable known family background
