Edo 2021 Sports Festival: Delta/Bayelsa Dominates Swimming Events

It’s no longer news that the Edo 2021 Sports Festival has kicked off and in the swimming events that took place yesterday, Delta and Bayelsa States dominated with 3 gold medals a piece, www.tracknews.ng

Dino Ebarakumo, Yellow Yeiya and Ifiezigbe Gagbe won gold for Bayelsa in the Men 50M Backstroke, Men 200M Freestyle and Women 100M Freestyle respectively. While Doutimi Gagbe, Onyobola Kirikereye, Denyefa Numbers and Ifiezigbe Gagbe won silver in the Women 4X200M Freestyle, Doutimi Gagbe and Ifiezigbe Gagbe won Bronze in Women’s 200M Butterfly and 50M Backstroke respectively.

Fo Delta, Timipamire Akiayefa won gold in Women 50M Backstroke and Women 200M Butterfly with Foresight Osamezu winning their 3rd gold in Men 100M Breaststroke. Duke Enikiyemi and Timipamire Akiayefa won bronze in the Men 50M Backstroke and 100M Women Freestyle respectively while Evelyn Nmor, Timipamire Akiayefa, Okpochini Anita and Okpochini Deborah won bronze in the 4X200M Women Freestyle.

Host Edo trail the two with a gold won in the 4X200M Women Freestyle by Victoria Ajakaiye, Rachel Tonjor, Sandra Tonjor and Uwiye Yinlayefa, 3 silvers won by Yinlayefa Uwaje (twice) and Christian Obomanu in the 50M Backstroke Women, 100M Freestyle Women and 100M Breaststroke Men respectively. A bronze also for them in the 200M Men Freestyle by Isreal Seleakpoboi.

Kano with 3 silver medals in Men 50M Backstroke (Sadiq Yahaya), 200M Butterfly Women (Oluchi Obi), and 200M Freestyle Men (Collins Obhinga).

Cross Rivers with a bronze coming from Chukwuka in the Men’s 100M Breaststroke.
