The Kano State Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed in a statement made available to journalists on Monday evening that no lives were lost in the incident.
He did note, however, that the fire destroyed 14 classrooms, 12 offices, and 21 toilets on the school grounds in Kiyawa village, Bagwai Local Government Area, Kano state.
He explained that the Bichi Fire Service station received an emergency call from a local resident, Alhaji Gaddafi Sani Bagwai, reporting a fire in the school.
According to Abdullahi, when the rescue team arrived at the school, they discovered that the inferno had engulfed the Tsangaya Model boarding primary school building.
According to the fire department’s investigation, the fire started in the administrative block and was caused by the school’s solar system.
Abdullahi assured that all of the school’s students had been rescued safely.
