The governorship candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP, in Nasarawa State, Yakubu Maidoya, has congratulated Governor Abdullahi Sule on his re-election and urged him to be magnanimous in victory.
This is coming two weeks after the conduct of the governorship and house of assembly elections on 18th March 2023, in which Governor Sule polled 347,209 votes to defeat the PDP who came 2nd with 283,016 votes and the NNPP candidate who came 3rd with 11,726 votes.
Speaking on a popular Hausa programme, titled kaka Sara kaka of Vision FM, the NNPP governorship candidate promised to support the Sule administration, especially in the area of industrialisation.
“As we speak, I have arrangement with a reputable company that is ready to invest in Lafia in which about 15,000 youths will be employed.
“Losing the election will not deter me from contributing my quota towards the socio economic development of Nasarawa State, since I’m a successful business man, and Nasarawa State belongs to all of us.
“I’m proud to say that the election is a success for me, having contested for the first time and to God be the glory, we made history, our party produced two House of Assembly seats,” he said.
He, however, expressed disappointment that religion and ethnic inclinations were introduced into the state politics.
“It is sad, very unfortunate that barely a week to the election, some religious leaders were induced financially by some politicians to play politics of religion, a danger that must be checked.”
He called on religious leaders to be guided in order to safeguard the general interest of the people for a peaceful and united Nasarawa State.
He also appreciated the Emir of Lafia and other traditional rulers for preaching peace during the election, and thanked the people of the state for their support and peaceful conduct during and after the elections.
