The Federal Government has ordered that all national borders around the nation be closed before Saturday’s presidential election.

Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, claimed that the decree was issued to stop foreign forces from evaluating the nation in order to halt electoral activities.

The minister reportedly stated on Friday that “internal movements have been confined to the polling places,” according to a statement by his media assistant Sola Fasure.

There won’t be any cross-border movement of people either.

“Law enforcement agencies are expected to employ all appropriate measures to safeguard people and property at polling places, on the streets, and at borders.

“Every threat must be neutralized, and assurances for people’s lives, their property, and the outcome of the elections must be delivered.”

Aregbesola urged every Nigerian citizen who is registered to vote to cast a ballot on Saturday, February 25, 2023, and vowed to provide a safe and secure environment before, during, and after the elections.

The minister warned Nigerians to exercise caution and alert local security agencies or online via the N-Alert application if they see any suspicious people or activity.
