Adeleye Kunle Reports

Power distribution has been completely halted throughout the South-East states, TrackNews reports

This is in response to the National Union of Electricity Employees’ (NUEE) strike at Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) power stations.

The development caused a total blackout in the five South-East states on Wednesday afternoon.

Emeka Ezeh, Head Corporate Communications, EEDC, confirmed to TrackNews that operations at the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) franchise area have been disrupted.

“As a result of this development, all of our feeders are out of supply, affecting supply to our esteemed customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States,” he said.

“Consultations are ongoing among critical power sector stakeholders to address this issue and possibly restore supply.”

“The Management of EEDC hereby encourages customers and neighborhood associations to be vigilant and protect the electrical installations within their environment from elements who may exploit this outage to vandalise these installations.”

“As a result, we ask for your continued patience and understanding while this is resolved,” he said.
