TRACKING_____The controversial governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Elrufai is again in the news.
Mr. Elrufai, who had in 2019 said that Zoning arrangement should be jettisoned for a competent Presidential candidate, has suddenly made a u-turn.
He said on Monday that, the North will respect the unwritten power rotation agreement between the North and the South, after the exit of President Buhari.
The calculation, according to those in the political circle is that, after Buhari exit in 2023, a Christian Southerner will take over as President and be paired with a core Muslim from the North as Vice President.
The two yardstick being used for the power rotation is region (North/South) and religion (Christian/Muslim).
Mr. Elrufai, being a Muslim, is rumoured to be considering pairing himself with a Southern Christian in the 2023 Presidential election.
Prominent names that are already being profiled for President from the South includes, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Gov Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti and few other names.
If all calculation becomes right, the fight to clinch the APC ticket will start soon, and this may consume the embattled APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole.
