The remains of the Emir of Dutse, Dr Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi were on Wednesday laid to rest at kargo public cemetery in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Dutse Central Mosque, Abubakar Sani Birnin Kudu, at Dutse Eid prayer ground.

Track News reported that the emir died on Tuesday at the age of 78 in Abuja Hospital after brief illness.

He is survived by two wives, 13 children and grandchildren.

The Dutse emirate was one of the two first-class emirs created in Jigawa State after creation of the state in 1991.

He succeeded his late father, Muhammadu Sanusi Dan Bello, who ruled between 1983 and 1995.

The funeral ceremony was attended by the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad, the presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, and the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kashim Shettima
