In a heartbreaking turn of events, the Nigerian entertainment industry mourns the loss of yet another legend. John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr Ibu, has reportedly passed away at the age of 62.

This devastating news comes just hours after the tragic passing of Quadri Oyebamiji, also known as Sisi Quadri. Mr Ibu, known for his comedic genius, battled health issues for years, including surgeries that ultimately led to the amputation of his leg.

According to reports, Mr Ibu breathed his last on Saturday, March 2, at a hospital in Lagos, where he had been undergoing treatment. Despite efforts to stabilize his condition, his health continued to decline after a recent surgery, ultimately leading to his demise.

The beloved actor’s health struggles have been well-documented, with constant clotting of blood in his leg and other ailments plaguing him for years. In a public plea for financial assistance in October 2023, Mr Ibu sought help for his medical expenses, hoping to receive treatment abroad. However, these plans were thwarted by his doctors’ concerns about his fitness for travel.

In an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, Mr Ibu reflected on his health battles, expressing gratitude for being brought back from the brink by divine intervention. He acknowledged the happiness of his enemies at his illness but credited his survival to God’s grace, emphasizing the lessons learned and his surprise at still being alive.
