Ebuka wonders how much banks rake in from failed, unreversed transactions
Popular television host and lawyer, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has pondered on how much banks rake in from failed or unreversed transactions.
Thinking aloud, the Big Brother Naija tweeted: “I wonder how much banks make from failed transactions that never get reversed.”
Last year, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said commercial banks refunded N89.2 billion to customers over various financial-related complaints from 2012 to June 2021.
But, Taiwo Akitobi, a Lagos-based activist, had narrated how a bank failed to refund his N58,000 after a failed air ticket purchase for three years.
Akitobi said he had attempted to purchase an air ticket in August 2019 through the bank app but the transaction was unsuccessful.
