Arsenal hero, Robert Pires, has said three current Gunners stars, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard, would get into the club’s famed ‘Invincibles’ XI.

Recall that Arsenal last celebrated a league title success in the 2003/2004 season, their legendary ‘Invincibles’ campaign, where they finished the campaign without a defeat.

This season, Arsenal have made a long-awaited return to the top of the Premier League but suffered a setback against Manchester City last Wednesday, losing 3-1 against Pep Guardiola’s side at Emirates Stadium.

The result saw Man City move to the top of the Premier League table with goals different ahead of second position Arsenal, who have a game in hand.

But Pires, who featured alongside the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Sol Campbell in that famous side, said only three of the new generation players under Mikel Arteta would make the team.

“I honestly think the Arsenal of 2004 would beat the Arsenal of 2023,£ Pires told The Telegraph when asked to pick a combined XI.

“I feel sorry for the kids now, but I’ve no doubt.

“I think the fans will give you the same answer: Lehmann, Lauren, Saliba, Campbell, Cole, Vieira, Gilberto Silva, Odegaard, Saka, Bergkamp and Henry
